Watch: PN MP Says Grech’s Attendance At db Project Ceremony ‘Might Have Been A Mistake’

PN MP Mark Anthony Sammut said Bernard Grech “might have made a mistake” when he attended the db Group’s stone laying ceremony for its Hard Rock Hotel Malta project last October.

“It might have been a mistake. If it were me, perhaps I wouldn’t have attended,” Sammut said on Jon Mallia’s Il-Każin debate show.

However, he insisted that the PN’s stance on the project needs to be seen in context.

“The fact that he accepted the invitation and attended the opening doesn’t discard the fact that the PN voted against the project permit in the PA board, against the land transfer, and against the transfer of the ITS school. We protested against the project from start to finish, let’s not discard all of that.”

Prime Minister Robert Abela had also attended the ceremony

Hard Rock Hotel Malta will be a five-star hotel overlooking St George’s Bay and is part of a larger project on the former ITS site in St Julian’s that includes the Ora Residences, which will offer residents high-end personalised services.

It is set to be inaugurated at the start of 2026.
