Watch: PN MP’s Shocking Claim – ‘Mater Dei Patient Made To Defecate On The Floor’
PN MP Mark Anthony Sammut has revealed the contents of a shocking message he received from a Maltese person, who claimed that a friend of hers was made to defecate on the floor of Mater Dei.
During an emotional parliamentary speech about the state of the healthcare system, Sammut said someone informed him that her friend had been admitted to an area of Mater Dei that didn’t have any toilets close at hand. According to this person, the patient was told to relieve herself in a crack on the floor.
“I am worried that we live in a country with a government that can’t get enough of pigging out and splurging money on people in its inner circle, all while acting miserly with the most vulnerable people in society.”
Turning to government MPs, he said they should be “ashamed of themselves for bringing the nation to this state where you defraud the healthcare system and tell patients to have some patience and defecate on the floor.”
Lovin Malta has asked the Health Ministry whether it has any further information about this claim and whether it will investigate it but has yet to receive a response.
In the same heartfelt speech, Sammut also opened up about how his late aunt had been shifted from ward to ward for 11 weeks in the three weeks before she died.
