PN MP and General Council President Mark Anthony Sammut urged his party to fully embrace the global AI revolution and put forward proposals to integrate the technology into public services.

Addressing a speech at the General Council yesterday, which formally kickstarted the process of electing a new PN leader, Sammut said his party has “never been afraid of technology”.

“In the past, we inherited a third-world country and carried out a digital revolution,” he said. “Today and tomorrow, we must become the party that embraces the digital revolution of our time, that of AI.”

“We will be the party that makes AI an integral part of our public services – both to improve efficiency and because technology doesn’t discriminate between Nationalists and Labourites, or between Labourites who are part of the inner circle and those who aren’t.”

Sammut made this proposal while dismissing concerns that the PN needs to rediscover what it stands for.

“Let’s not be the ones to forget who we are or to stop being proud of our own achievements,” he urged PN members and councillors.

Besides technology, Sammut said the PN believes in the common good, freedom of thought, expression, choice and opportunity, legal equality, justice, improving workers’ conditions, ensuring parents get more quality time with their children, the decentralisation of power, and bold, political reforms.
