Watch: Queen Camilla Praises Daphne Caruana Galizia For ‘Courage’ And ‘Conviction That Truth Matters’

Queen Camilla paid homage to Daphne Caruana Galizia as she praised the courage of female journalists killed in the line of duty.
Addressing the 135th anniversary of the Foreign Press Association, the Queen said journalism is particularly tough for women and proceeded to single out a few examples.
After naming Martha Gelhorn and CNN’s Christine Amanpour, who coincidentally interviewed one of Daphne Caruana Galizia’s sons this week, Camila named Caruana Galizia herself as well as late British journalist Marie Colvin.
“[They] tragically paid with their lives,” the Queen said. “Their courage was only matched by their conviction that the truth matters.”
“Perhaps this has never been more evident than in the digital age where disinformation runs rife and where female journalists are increasingly targeted on social media.”
The Queen’s intervention is the latest reminder of the global ripple effects that Caruana Galizia’s 2017 assassination caused.
