PN MP Eve Borg Bonello recently took to the streets to highlight the ongoing garbage issue present in various localities around Malta.

In a video posted on her Instagram this morning, Borg Bonello referred to the many complaints she’s received from residents on the garbage issue which continues to plague the streets of Malta.

Borg Bonello can be seen pictured in front of a pile of rubbish as she delivers her appeal for more attention to be given to the pressing issue.

“Rats and rubbish, that is the reality we’re living with, the reality of several residents living in touristic areas: Sliema, St Julian’s, Swieqi, San Ġwann, Msida, Ta’ Xbiex, Gżira – the list goes on and on,” she said.

“It is unacceptable. I’ve been doing several house visits these last few weeks, and I”ve been witnessing first hand streets lined with garbage.”

She continued to say how this has become one of the most frequent complaint she hears from residents – if not the most main one at this point.

“Something has to change. These areas have been infested with garbage and foul smells,” she continued.

Borg Bonello continued by directly calling out Environment Minister Miriam Dalli, saying that she is a “pseudo green warrior who recently faced a national embarrassment” over several power cuts which occurred during a serious heatwave.

“When is the Minister going to take action? What are you waiting for Miriam Dalli? Please, do the job you’re paid for,” she concluded.

This comes as various localities have started to witness rodents such as rats in their residential areas, as they feast on garbage left out for hours.
