Watch: Rescue Attempt On As Dying Tuna Washes Up On Rocky Għadira Beach

After causing absolute chaos in Għadira, a tuna which frantically swam into the busy bay has now triggered a makeshift – albeit slightly hopeless – rescue operation by the beachgoers who happened to be on the scene.
“I think it’s dying,” one person told Lovin Malta, sharing photos and videos of the large fish beached against the bay’s rocky shallows. “They’re now trying to turn it around.”

In videos sent to Lovin Malta, the beachgoers can be seen splashing water onto the tuna as others brainstorm ways to rescue the large panicked fish. And while the creature was unstoppably smashing through the beach just moments ago, it has now seemed to have drastically slowed down as many fear it is moments away from dying.
“It’s a sad sight seeing it so helpless, but no one seems to be able to do anything unfortunately,” another person told Lovin Malta.
In another video sent to the newsroom, tempers seemed to have flared as some beachgoers started shouting at each other to do something, while others appeared quite sure that the tuna was beyond being saved.
It is not yet sure whether any authorities have been informed on this afternoon’s chaotic scene, but the lifeguards on duty are believed to have rushed in to make sure everyone got out of the sea as the tuna stormed into Għadira.
