Watch: Return Of The Barriers – People Rattle Metal Railings Against Police At Valletta Protest
At a heated moment during yesterday’s protest demanding to return the hospitals back to the people, protesters were seen rattling metal barriers against the police.
In what seems like a flashback to the 2019 protests that had chased Former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat out of office, the chaotic scene once again materialised last night.
The moment was captured during the first few moments of a live stream from the protest, as soon as protesters saw Prime Minister Robert Abela exiting the Parliament building.
While Abela did not engage with the protesters, screams of “korrotti” (corrupt) and “gideb” (lies) were heard filling the square.
The protest, Tuna l-Isptarijiet Lura, was called by the Nationalist Party, following former party leader and MP Adrian Delia’s landmark win of his case against the Vitals-Steward hospital deal.
Although the impromptu protest was called as late as Sunday afternoon, the turnout was much bigger than anticipated.
