He was joined by Economy Minister Silvio Schembri and Transport Minister Chris Bonett for the opening.

The €20 million investment will create 70 new high-quality jobs, bringing Ryanair’s Malta-based workforce to over 500 professionals in finance, engineering, safety, HR, pilots and cabin crew. Abela described the project as “a symbol of confidence in Malta’s workforce, in our economy, and in our future.”

Through Malta Air, Lauda and associated companies, Ryanair already manages training, maintenance, leasing, and operations in Malta. Eight aircraft are based locally, with 190 aircraft registered on the Maltese registry.

Ryanair executives said Malta remains central to their long-term plans, while government pledged to keep aviation a key pillar of Malta Vision 2050.
