Watch: Robert Abela Is Against Increasing Malta’s Legal Drinking Age

Prime Minister Robert Abela has come out against calls to increase Malta’s legal drinking age from the current 17.
Interviewed on ONE, Abela said that the government should step up its education campaigns on both alcohol and drugs, but he doesn’t believe the legal drinking age should increase.
Sedqa has called for the legal drinking age to be increased to at least 18 and said that happy hours should either be banned or extended to include non-alcoholic drinks.
Caritas wants it increased to 21, warning that binge drinking is entrenched in Maltese youth culture.
