Watch: Robert Abela Links Karl Gouder’s Death To ‘Abuse Of Free Speech’
Without being prompted to do so, Prime Minister Robert Abela brought up the shocking death of Karl Gouder in an attack against people who he warned are “abusing free speech”.
“Under the pretext of free speech, certain portals assassinate people of goodwill,” Abela told journalists yesterday.
“I don’t want to comment on the sad case we witnessed in recent days and I don’t want to enter the specifics because I don’t know anything about it other than what is in the public domain.”
“However, if we allow this episode and other previous ones to go by as though they were nothing, it would mean that we wouldn’t have learned anything,” he continued.
“These insensitive personal attacks by a small clique of people with a secret agenda to promote hidden interests while destroying people of goodwill in the process must be stopped by society, not by the PL, the PN or the Prime Minister.”
Abela later told a NET journalist that an “important” bi-party discussion between PL and PN kicked off when he visited Dar Ċentrali to sign Gouder’s condolence book last week.
“I won’t reveal what we discussed at Dar Ċentrali and I think it would be irresponsible of me. However, a discussion started that I believe we must follow up on. Maybe you should inform yourself on what was discussed,” he said.
