Watch: Robert Abela – ‘Our Soldiers Won’t Fight Someone Else’s War’

Prime Minister Robert Abela pledged that not a single Maltese soldier will be deployed to fight in a war overseas.
In Parliament yesterday, PN MP Darren Carabott challenged Abela about Malta’s involvement in an EU military and humanitarian asssistance mission to Ukraine.
Abela confirmed Malta’s involvement but said the AFM are merely involved in administrative work and are not actually training Ukrainian troops. The AFM later said it has deployed an official to the UK, who has been tasked with facilitating communication between the UK and the EU on this mission.
“More broadly, I can say that we won’t send our soldiers to fight someone else’s war,” he said. “I am going to be crystal clear about this. Other countries can take this initiative if they want to but we will not participate. Our soldiers will remain stationed in Malta to carry out the necessary work out at sea.”
