Watch: Robert Abela – ‘PN Candidates Want To Send Your Children To War
Prime Minister Robert Abela tried to encourage people to vote for Labour at the upcoming European Parliament elections by claiming that PN candidates “want to send your children to war”.
“Never has there been such a clear difference between our candidates,” Abela told a political rally today. “On one side, there are progressive candidates who want Europe to invest our money in public capital investments and social services, and on the other side there are populist candidates who want Europe to invest in weapons and the defence industry.”
“On our side, we have candidates who want your children to have the best possible careers, and on the other side there are candidates who aren’t ashamed to publicly state that they want to send our children to a European army overseas to fight other people’s wars and make those wars our own.”
Abela appeared to be referring to a recent exchange between PL MEP candidate Daniel Attard and PN MEP candidate David Agius on Andrew Azzopardi’s 103 Malta’s Heart radio show.
During this debate, Attard asked Agius whether he “agrees with the EPP manifesto’s proposal for an EU army” and Agius responded in the affirmative. Attard followed it up by asking Agius whether he will send his own children to war, to which the PN candidate said “yes” and invited people to watch an upcoming episode of Jon Mallia’s new debate show Il-Każin.
