Watch: Robert Arrigo Gets Old Trafford Tribute Ahead Of Tottenham Hotspurs Match
Robert Arrigo’s name rang throughout Old Trafford last night in a tribute before Manchester United’s match against Tottenham Hotspur.
Arrigo, a lifelong Spurs fan, died this week with the whole of Malta issuing tributes to the late MP.
“Arrigo was a member of the Maltese parliament, and will be deeply missed by his wife, children and the rest of the Maltese community,” the announcer said last night.
The tribute was the work of PN MP Robert Cutajar, a Manchester United fan himself who attended last night’s match.
Cutajar and Arrigo’s footballing relationship has been reported before – with the former sending the latter a video of Spurs fans celebrating a recent victory while Arrigo was in hospital.
Arrigo was a Nationalist Party MP and the former deputy leader of the opposition, having served in his position for almost five years.
He had been undergoing chemotherapy recently while he battled cancer over the last few months.
