Watch: Rosianne Cutajar’s Majjalata Went Badly Wrong Because Pig Ate Too Many Donuts
Rosianne Cutajar may be known for her famous “kullħadd jitħanżer” line but the PL MP has something of a history with actual pigs.
During a lightheaded Popolin episode, Cutajar recounted how, shortly after her 2012 election as Qormi mayor, her aides convinced her to organise a majjalata.
“They had this pig which was supposed to be a micro pig but they gave him so much food that he ended up a macro pig. They wanted to get rid of him and so it was up to me to organise this majjalata.”
The event, Cutajar’s first as Qormi mayor, seemed poised for success, with around 200 attendees and an exciting atmosphere, but it soon became clear that the suckling pig was taking way too long to cook.
“Two hours had passed, people were eating crackers and cheese, and this pig was showing no signs that it was soon going to be ready to eat,” she said. “I started panicking and told my people to bring out as many crackers and cheese as possible because these people were going to die of hunger. Qormi people are foodies after all.”
By 11pm, with the pig still very much cooking, Cutajar had to call the majjalata off.
“We have a famous donut shop in Qormi, and the pig’s owner had fed him so many leftover donuts that he became so fat he didn’t cook properly after all those hours.”
