Watch: Sandra Gauci Vows To Continue Fighting For Abortion Decriminalisation In Latest Interview
ADPD’s newest leader Sandra Gauci has once again assured the public that the party will continue fighting for women’s rights when it comes to decriminalising abortion.
This comes just days after her election into the leadership role and since a Maltese woman was actually charged in court for carrying out a medical abortion.
“When it comes to abortion, our party has taken a very courageous step, I think, when you see how things are evolving,” Gauci said during an interview with Lovin Malta.
“May I remind you that we want the decriminalisation of abortion because, for us, women are not criminals, and abortion when it comes to rape, incest, and non-viable pregnancies,” she explained.
“Some people tell me that (with these proposals) abortion will either be too much or not enough, but I think, even when there were surveys, that this is the most moderate way,” she said.
“We’re going to stick to that because in Malta we don’t even have these options.”
During the interview, Gauci also touched upon her vision for the country, mainly mentioning that she will be committed to tackling the issues of traffic, construction, and environmental degradation.
