Watch: Santa Venera Driver Loses Control Of Car And Hits Bystander In Marsaskala

Footage showing the dramatic moment after a freak accident that saw an innocent bystander hit by a car has been published.

In the footage, a crowd can be seen gathering around the victim as a damaged car comes to rest nearby. Pieces of the vehicle, including its front bumper, can be seen strewn around the area as people try to make sense of what just happened.

The accident happened at midnight in Triq Sant’ Antnin, Marsaskala; police said that a 22-year-old from Santa Venera lost control of his Ford Fiesta, hit a nearby pole before striking a 30-year-old from St Paul’s Bay that was on the pavement.

Two 22-year-old women, from Żabbar and Marsaskala, and a 23-year-old from Marsaskala, were also in the vehicle.

An ambulance took the passengers as well as the 30-year-old to Mater Dei for treatment. The 30-year-old and 23-year-old were deemed to be suffering from grievous injuries, while the two women were found to suffering from slight injuries.

Police investigations into the accident are underway.
