Watch: Siġġiewi Restaurant Owner Offers Free Meal To Thief Caught Red-Handed
A Siġġiewi restaurant owner showed mercy to a would-be thief, offering him a free meal instead of reporting him to the police.
CCTV footage shows a man walking into Ferdinand’s Burger Bar at around 7:18pm yesterday evening.
The man could be seen hovering around the counter for a while to check whether the coast is clear. He then crawled underneath the counter, approached the cash register and made a grab for a tablet. However, he was caught redhanded by a member of staff.
Ferdinand’s owner Jordan James Gauci told Lovin Malta that he happened to be nearby and caught the would-be thief across the street.
“He was soaked in sweat and spoke in English, he told me that he is passing through a tough time and that he is desperate,” he said.
He said he felt sorry for the thief and offered him a free meal but the man refused his offer.
“I guess he wanted the money for other stuff,” he said.
Would you have offered the thief a free meal?
