A group of early morning protestors greeted Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and other ministers with cries of “murderer” and “majjal” in Castille Square today.

A number of people, including members of the Caruana Galizia family, have gathered in Valletta ahead of an urgent European Parliament mission visiting Malta today to discuss the fallout from revelations linking top government officials to the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Police and barricades surrounded Castille following weeks of protests that have hit Malta’s capital in the wake of former government Chief of Staff Keith Schembri and former Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi’s resignations.

The findings from today’s meetings will be looked at closely across the European Union as the current crisis makes international headlines and MEPs pledge to “ensure justice for Daphne Caruana Galizia and support those fighting for the rule of law in Malta”.
