Watch: Sliema Ferries Car Park Will Be Moved Underground And Replaced With A Garden

The car park in front of the Sliema Ferries will move underground and a garden will be built where cars currently park, Transport Minister Aaron Farrugia announced today.
Farrugia said the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects has published an expression of interest to gauge ideas from potential investors on how this project could look like.

In principle though, he said the plan is for the current car park to move underground and be replaced by a garden, complete with trees and shrubs, to beautify the area.
This isn’t the first time such a project has been pitched. In December 2012, in the dying months of the last PN government the Planning Authority (back then MEPA) approved a plan to build an underground car park with space for 200 vehicles, complete with a public garden over it.
The plan was shelved by the incoming PL administration due to financial concerns but it seems it has now been revived.
