Watch: Sliema Murder Victim A 43-Year-Old Colombian, Body Found On Bed
Police have identified the victim of today’s Sliema murder as a 43-year-old Colombian national.
Giving the press an official update, police spokesperson Brandon Pisani said that a man, also a 43-year-old Colombian, entered the Sliema police station at around 6:15am to inform officers that he had just killed a woman in an apartment in Triq Sir George Borg.
Police officers immediately went on site and found a dead woman lying face up on a bed, with stab wounds indicating that she had been knifed to death.
The man has been arrested and is being considered as the main suspect.
Pisani said investigations are ongoing to establish the relationship between the murderer and the victim, as well as the motive behind the crime. However, he said it could be the case that the murder was preceded by an argument.
He said that a magisterial inquiry, which is being led by Lana Lanfranco, will determine whether this murder is a femicide, which is classified separately as an aggravated homicide in Maltese law.
