Watch: Spectator Filming Kristu Rxoxt Statue Run In Bormla Nearly Causes Major Accident

A man who tried to get a good shot of yesterday’s traditional Kristu Rxoxt Easter Sunday statue run in Bormla risked causing a serious accident.
Footage from the celebration shows the man standing in the middle of the road, filming the statue-bearers as they charged towards him.
One of the runners attempted to push him aside but accidentally tripped over a fellow bearer in the process. The statue lurched forward, briefly tipping in the direction of the crowd – a potentially dangerous moment that, thankfully, did not result in any serious injuries.

The statue took a tumble in the direction of the crowd, but thankfully serious injuries were avoided.
A symbol of joy and celebration on the most important day of the Roman Catholic calendar, the tradition sees a group of men run through the streets carrying a massive statue of the Risen Christ before triumphantly lifting it into the air, symbolising Jesus’ resurrection.
Towns like Paola, Bormla, Isla, Mosta and St Julian’s all take part in this annual tradition.
