Watch: Stagno Navarra Says PN Under Police Investigation And Puts Inquiry Requests On Hold

Karl Stagno Navarra said he has put his requests for two magisterial inquiries into the PN and its leader Bernard Grech on hold after the police informed him that they have already launched an investigation.

Stagno Navarra said the Financial Crime Investigation Directorate (FCID) informed him last week that they have taken note of his allegations and have launched an investigation out of their own initiative.

“The magisterial inquiry requests have been put on hold as the police investigation has superseded them,” he told Lovin Malta. “We would just be doubling it.”

The journalist had called for an investigation into the PN over issues such as missing NI payments to workers and the party’s failure to file its accounts for the past four years. He also called for an investigation into Grech after Prime Minister Robert Abela alleged that he had obtained money from third parties to pay €61,000 in tax arrears.

Stagno Navarra first announced the police investigation in a recorded message at the PL’s każin in Paola, part of the constituency of Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri.

He pledged his support for Camilleri, who is facing fresh criticism after 200kg of cannabis were smuggled out of an AFM barracks in Safi.

“It was very rich for Bernard Grech to attack Byron Camilleri and tell the Prime Minister to accept his resignation when he was man enough to offer it in the first place since the buck stops with him.”

“Roberta Metsola jumped on the bandwagon too and claimed that the system failed. She chose to write her statement in Maltese, because if she had written it in English, her friends in Europe would wonder what she was talking about.”

“However, since last week, the PN and Bernard Grech are officially under police investigation over everything I have written in recent weeks. When Bernard Grech goes to a protest, he should have the balls to tell attendees that he’s being investigated by the police.”

“It’s the PN’s system which has failed, and what I have written and have yet to write is part of a growing story. The chickens have come home to roost.”
