Watch: Stagno Navarra Tells Alex Borg To Join Labour If PN Don’t Hold Leader Election

Karl Stagno Navarra has advised PN MP Alex Borg to switch his allegiance to Labour if the Nationalist Party doesn’t hold a leadership election.

Stagno Navarra described a reported power-sharing proposal involving Roberta Metsola and Adrian Delia as a “diabolical plan” that was cooked up to freeze Borg out of the leadership.

“They see Alex Borg, Franco Debono and other potential candidates as threats,” he said. “If a moderate is elected, their mandate will be to kick out the extremists, who the people are sick and tired of.”

Speaking directly to Borg, Stagno Navarra said he has an opportunity to “petrify” the Nationalist Party.

“Speak to those 6,000 or so people who voted for you at the last election and tell them to vote for the Labour Party if the PN doesn’t grant its supporters the right to vote for its next leader,” he said.

“That’s how to terrify them and prove that you have balls. Alternatively, I would suggest that you are in the wrong party. In that case, pack up your belongings and all your supporters, who know that you’re on the right path, and bring them with you to the PL.”

Borg emerged on top in a Lovin Malta leadership poll but he has given no public signal that he intends to succeed Bernard Grech, nor that he is thinking of switching his political allegiance.

In his most recent statement, he warned that everyone who is trying to sow seeds of division doesn’t care about the PN’s wellbeing.

“I thank my colleagues for the perfect manner in which they are behaving and will continue to behave, and I am sure that the party will move forward form this situation,” he said.

“All I want right now is to maintain your support. I thank the thousands of people who messaged me and I will respond at the right moment. The most important thing is to look to the future with a sense of goodwill.”
