Watch: Stop Being Experts In Insults, Franco Debono Urges PN Supporters
Franco Debono urged PN supporters to stop being “experts in insults” and to focus their efforts into attracting people to the party.
Debono, who is considering a bid for the newly vacant leadership, said that he predicted the PN’s downfall 12 years ago and that he has the right tonic for the party.
“A few days ago, I said that the ball is in the supporters’ court,” he said. “It cannot be that PN supporters have become experts in insults. Yesterday, and Mark Anthony Sammut and I spoke out and we both faced insulting comments.”
“If Karol Aquilina speaks out, a faction insults him. If Adrian Delia speaks out, a faction insults him. If I speak out, a faction insults me. If Alex Borg speaks out, a faction insults him. How can this be?”
“If PN supporters don’t educate and inform themselves, the party cannot recover. The Labour Party is in the lead by 40,000 votes and is constantly working on bringing people back and finding the best in people. Meanwhile, the PN are losing by 40,000 votes and its supporters are focusing on who they want to kick out of the party.”
“Stop being experts in insulting people and finding defects in them, but focus your efforts into attracting more people.”
“If you truly love the party, you must focus on attracting people back and finding the best qualities in them.”
Debono said that the new leader should introduce more discipline within the party so as to foster a sense of unity and team spirit.
“You know where you stand with me, and it is important that you know where you stand with the leader and that the leader introduces an element of discipline.”
“It cannot be that everyone is just shooting from the hip with no sense of unity or teamwork.”
“Where is the team spirit? If you don’t foster a team spirit, you cannot have team players. Some said I’m not a team player, even though I’m still a PN member, but how can there be team players if there isn’t even a team or a sense of team spirit and everyone is just working in silos?”
