Civil Protection Department (CPD) informed Lovin Malta the fire happened yesterday at around 6.30pm.

The house is located in Triq Atocia in Ħamrun.

“While no one was injured and the house itself was not damaged, the roof housed several racing pigeons which were contained in cages. The cages were destroyed in the fire and the birds were killed,” a CPD spokesperson told the newsroom.

A spokesperson for the Police informed Lovin Malta that there was no foul play involved.

“The incident was sparked through an electricity fault,” they confirmed.
