Watch: ‘Tbeżżgħux Bil-Babaw’ – Abela Urges Against Euthanasia Scaremongering

Prime Minister Robert Abela urged against scaremongering as public discussion about the proposed legalisation of voluntary euthanasia kicked off.
“While we provide lots of palliative care options, I believe that we should allow patients passing through such a sensitive period to make a personal choice,” Abela told a PL event yesterday.
“This discussion should be cordial and civil. The worst disservice that someone can give to society is to scaremonger (jbeżża bil-Babaw).”
“Let’s be factual and honest, let’s not allow politicians to dominate this discussion and let’s allow society to speak out and issue their own proposals.”
Abela said the people who are best-placed to speak about this topic are terminally ill patients themselves and the relatives of people who passed away in great agony but didn’t have an option for euthanasia available.
