WATCH: The Moment A Maltese Police Officer Was Accidentally Run Over By A Minister’s Car
A police officer was accidentally run over as a crowd of protestors turned angry outside of Parliament last night following a protest outside of Castille.
Inspector Priscilla Caruana Lee was slightly injured after a car with Justice Minister Owen Bonnici and Junior Minister Aaron Farrugia inside of it was surrounded by a crowd chanting names at them. She was part of a number of officers attempting to protect the car from protestors.
In the above video, she can be seen reacting in pain as the car runs over her foot as it suddenly reverses, with other officers trying to stop the car in the chaos and other people shouting to the driver.
Owen Bonnici posted after he had made it out of the crowd, saying he had spoken to Caruana Lee and was happy to hear she is doing well. He also thanked the police for their work under the emotional conditions.
