Watch: ‘There Is No PN Establishment, That’s Such A False Labour Buzzword’ – MP Alex Borg
Nationalist MP Alex Borg has denied that there exists an “establishment” within the PN that sets its agenda behind the scenes and insisted that such a claim is nothing but a “false Labour buzzword”.
“I don’t believe there is an establishment within PN, it’s a buzzword that Super One [sic] invented,” Borg said in a recent interview with Lovin Malta.
“They use it to sow division in the party and doubt in the minds of our supporters and certain floaters but I believe the PN is led by its leader and leadership and that no establishment that should lead the party.”

Borg said that although many PN supporters may believe this narratives that doesn’t make it true, and that it is up to PN MPs, councillors and supporters to convince people of the reality within the party.
“We must get the message across that [the establishment claim] isn’t true and that the PN leadership sets its own agenda and gives space to all MPs.”
Borg also stressed that the PN’s function as a political party is completely different from that of an NGO.
“PL and PN are political parties, not NGOs, and the role of a party is to become more electable so that it can use its policies to make Malta stronger and safer,” he said. “NGOs like Repubblika, Graffitti and Rota play an important role in society but I believe that political parties are independent of NGOs and should set their own agenda. “
“They can consult NGOs but ultimately the final decision is theirs.”
