There are two new patients of COVID-19 in Malta, Superintendent for Public Health Charmaine Gauci has announced, bringing the total number of cases up to 447.

There have been 19 recoveries since yesterday bringing the total number of recovered cases to 223 and the total number of active cases is 221.

One of the new patients is a 60-year-old woman carer who tested positive after she was screened prior to her shift change.

The second patient is a 43-year-old man who works in a private office and went to work and met various colleagues while he had symptoms.

Malta’s total active cases have been below 300 for several days now.

If you believe you are suffering from the coronavirus, follow the following guidelines:

Stay indoors and avoid contact with other people, as you would with the flu.

Do not go to Mater Dei, the emergency department, health centres, private clinics, or pharmacies. Stay home and call the public health authority’s helpline 111.

If you are returning from any country, do not break self-quarantine rules or you will be subject to a €10,000 fine.

Public gatherings of more than three persons are also no longer allowed, with the police now able to dish out a €100 fine.
