Watch: ‘Ukraine Regaining Lost Land Is Nearly Impossible’ – PL MEP Daniel Attard

PL MEP Daniel Attard warned that it would be “difficult, if not impossible” for Ukraine to regain the land it has lost to Russia.

Attard published a video urging the EU to get behind US President Donald Trump’s peace talks, stating that the “time has come for diplomacy to end the war.”

“Russia has taken some 20% of Ukraine’s territory and the war is going nowhere, other than that more innocent people are losing their lives. The EU is now telling Trump that they want the war to continue, with or without him, and that if needs be they are ready to make good for the US funding gap.”

“However, what they’re not telling you is that it will be difficult, if not impossible, for Ukraine to win back the land it has lost. If Ukraine keeps on fighting without US military technology, it’s prospects will be bleak and the chances are that it will lose even more territory.”

“The time has come for diplomacy, and to stop this macho talk of those who want the war to continue, as though Putin will be scared by the talk of European politicians who talk a big game with no substance.”

“If there’s a path to peace, we should go down that route and not sideline it just to show how big we are.”

Attard went on to warn that sanctions that the West has imposed on Russia over the past three years have failed, as “Russia didn’t collapse economically as they told us it would”.

He also said the war must be viewed in the context of breached promises by Western leaders in the 1990s that NATO won’t expand eastwards.

“Do you think the US would accept Russian military bases in Canada, Cuba or Mexico? I condemn the invasion but this is the context.”
