Watch: Ukrainian MP Punches Russian Delegate After Grabbing Flag In Turkey Summit
A Ukrainian MP was filmed attacking a Russian delegate during a Turkey summit in footage that’s going viral globally.
The heated incident came after Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Marikovski unfurled a Ukrainian flag behind a Russian delegate who was being interviewed during the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) in Ankara, Turkey this week.
In the video, Valery Stavitsky, a separate Russian official, enters the screen and removes the Ukrainian flag from behind his Russian colleague, grabbing it from Marikovski’s hands.
Marikovski then walks behind Stavistky, before raining a series of blows onto him as he attempts to walk away. Security guards eventually intervene and get Marikovski away from Stavistky.
Marikovski then shared the footage on Facebook, saying; “Paws off our flag, paws off Ukraine, Russian bastard!”

This wasn’t the only time Russian-Ukrainian tensions spilled over.
During a speech by another Russian delegate in a separate hall, another group of Ukrainians unfurled their flag, pushing against security who attempted to remove them.
Though the goal of the summit was to find common ground on issues such as grain distribution, ongoing tension from Russia’s illegal invasion into Ukraine is still at the forefront of any discussions in the region.
