The unfortunate passing of a beloved music fan from Rabat led to his friends and family organising an eccentric tribe-like funeral to celebrate his life.

Ray Falzon, better known as Tas-Slais amongst his friends and family was a charismatic and charming music lover – and he would have loved to see the farewell he was given in his hometown.

His family asked everyone to attend the funeral in casual and colourful clothing.

And Joe Micallef, a friend of his, shared a video of the spectacularly put-together funeral where his friends and family can be seen playing the drums in tribute to the man.

Joe thanked Peter Paul, member of the group Tribali, for helping with organising the funeral and making sure Ray had a farewell to be remembered.

Lovin Malta spoke to Kathy Davis, a childhood friend of Ray’s, and she recalled how deeply he loved music and how much of an incredible free spirit he was.

‘‘We all knew we would have fun when Slais was around as he was an adventurous sort.’’

She explains that back in 2015 Ray was recovering from a motorcycle accident that almost took his life – however, he still kept it pushing making everyone around him smile and enjoy life.

‘‘He was a tremendous force and presence in life and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.’’
