A festival-headlining rapper was given an unforgettable Maltese privilege when a Valletta restauranteur showed their respect to him by placing his snap on their Wall of Fame… replacing the iconic metal band Iron Maiden.

Foodblog.mt accompanied G-Eazy, who is in Malta after headlining SummerDaze Festival, to Da Pippos Restaurant earlier this week.

The place’s pasta and homely ambience must have really made an impact, because the California-born rapper made a return for a second round.

However, during his second visit, Da Pippo’s owner Francesco Cutajar emerged with a printed and framed photo from his first visit – and let him know that he was getting a prominent spot on their wall.

“My favourite rapper in the world, man,” Cutajar tell G-Eazy.

“Oh man, let’s go,” G-Eazy responds with a smile.

“Iron Maiden is off now,” he continues, removing the framed picture and replacing it with G-Eazy’s.

“Take ’em out man, the real is up,” G-Eazy laughs.

The pair then dap up in a clear show of mutual respect.

The scene cuts to a bountiful plate of pasta being served up to G-Eazy and his crew, with the table clearly hyped about their incoming meal.

Lots of celebs have visited Da Pippo’s over the years, with their pictures getting hung on the wall.

And any metalheads out there will be happy to know that Iron Maiden’s photo was hung back up on the wall within the hour, with Da Pippo’s making it clear that they are friends with both Iron Maiden and G-Eazy.

Unlike most artists who perform in Malta, G-Eazy took some extra days off to explore the island, sharing several shots of him across Malta and Gozo, as well as some of his takes on local products and names.
