Watch: ‘Vitals Case Against Joseph Muscat Dead In The Water’ – PL MEP Daniel Attard
PL MEP Daniel Attard said the court case against Joseph Muscat and other major players over the Vitals magisterial injury is “dead in the water”.
“It is now clear for everyone who doesn’t hate PL supporters that it’s a case of when, and not if, Muscat and all the others who were unfairly charged will be freed,” Attard said.
The MEP pointed out that forensic expert Jeremy Harbinson, who co-authored a report into the hospital privatisation deal, said himself that his report was never meant to be used as a direct basis for prosecution.
Harbinson has also repeatedly refused to testify in court about this report, citing safety concerns.
“The Vitals inquiry has completely collapsed,” Attard said. “The main court expert declared under oath that his report should never been used to charge people and he is now refusing to testify on his own work.”
“There cannot be a case without a fair hearing and we must be honest that this process was built on false foundations that have completely collapsed.”
“An expert was appointed without the adequate warrant, the magistrate based her conclusions on a report whose author said it shouldn’t have been used to prosecute people, and there have been leaks by people who were after an inquisition, and not justice.”
“Meanwhile, the accused have had their bank accounts frozen, lost work opportunities, and seen their reputations severely damaged over a case that is dead in the water.”
