Watch: ‘Viva Air Malta’ – National Airline’s Final Flight Announcement

Air Malta thanked its customers for flying with over the years in its final flight announcement last night.
After 50 years in operation, Air Malta took to the skies one final time in a flight from Rome Fiumicino to Malta.
Before takeoff, Captain Frank Scerri and first officer Byron Fenech gave one final announcement on behalf of the airline.
“We would like to thank you for flying with us tonight and offer a huge heartfelt thanks for the support you have given us through the past 50 years,” they said.

“It was an honour for us to serve you through the years, especially in the skies. I would like to wish you a Happy Easter, thank you and say viva Air Malta.”
Air Malta’s longest-serving cabin crew were selected for its final flight, and one of the airlines first cabin crew members flew to Rome in a wheelchair simply to be on the final flight.
In an official statement, Air Malta thanked its employees for their work over the past 50 years, as well as its customers, travel partners, and collaborators.
“Since the first Boeing 720B touched down on Maltese soil on March 29th, 1974, ahead of our inaugural flight on 1st April 1974, until our final flight on March 30th, 2024, Air Malta has proudly represented Malta on the global stage,” they said.
“Moving forward, KM Malta Airlines will serve as the new national airline for the Maltese Islands.”
