WATCH: Vote For Delia Resignation Could Take Place On 4 July Reveal PN Deputy Leaders

PN Deputy Leaders Robert Arrigo and David Agius have indicated that a general council debate calling for Adrian Delia’s resignation could take place as early as 4 July.

“There is a vacant post for the president held on the 4th, next week, and I suppose it will be then,” Arrigo told Lovin Malta.

The pair were approached outside of the Parliament Building in Valletta a day after former PN candidate Ivan Bartolo submitted the petition, signed by 200 PN activists, asking for Delia to shoulder political responsibility for two massive electoral defeats.

Both were reluctant to say whether they would back the proposal or not and whether an actual vote would go the council.

“The executive committee will decide,” Agius repeated.

An extraordinary meeting within the PN’s General Council debating the embattled leader’s future is set to take place.

However, PN General Council President Kristy Debono warned that 84 of the 200 signatories are not members of the Council, and therefore don’t have a right to vote.

“After conducting the necessary verifications according to Article 31 of the PN statute, we are passing this list to the PN Executive to kickstart the process of calling a General Council and to design and approve its agenda,” Debono said.
