Watch: ‘Watch Your Mouth’: Debate Gets Heated When Agius Calls PL Candidates Corrupt

Sparks flew during a recent election debate after PN MEP candidate Peter Agius called PL candidates Alex Agius Saliba and Steve Ellul “corrupt”.

On Popolin last night, Agius accused both candidates of engaging in corrupt practices – Ellul for dishing out hundreds of direct orders when he was in charge of Project Green, and Agius Saliba for distributing laptop service vouchers to households.

“They’re all in it together and they’re no better than Joseph Muscat,” he said. “How do you expect them to raise the level if they are like him? They are corrupt like him.”

Both candidates hit out at Agius, and Agius Saliba demanded that he retract his statement immediately.

“Are you saying I’m corrupt? If so, report me to the police commissioner and watch your words,” Agius Saliba said.

However, Agius pressed on and said Agius Saliba distributed laptop service vouchers to several households along with his own business card.

“Half the local councils across Malta are distributing these vouchers,” said Agius Saliba, pointing out that his face wasn’t on the actual vouchers. “You should be ashamed of yourself.”
