Watch: ‘We Aren’t Doing This To Protect Ourselves’ – Abela On Inquiry Reform

Prime Minister Robert Abela insisted that the new proposed magisterial inquiry reform is not intended to protect high-ranking politicians.

“We will introduce all the necessary safeguards to ensure that liars not only answer for their actions, but pay for them too,” Abela told a political rally yesterday. “They must pay for throwing innocent people down a well of knives for years.”

“But don’t think we are doing this to protect ourselves. Thanks to a 2013 reform [on political corruption], we politicians can be investigated until our dying breath.”

“However, we never thought that their political fight would extend beyond ourselves and spread to common people on whom there is no doubt of their integrity and their loyal service to the state without fear or favour under different administrations.”

“Imagine if your child had to see you portrayed as a criminal and charged in court even though you know what the truth is and that you had done nothing wrong. However, your life will be ruined for years until the truth comes out. Who will give you those years back?”

“These people don’t care about justice, they just want to rub their hands in glee seeing people getting charged in court even if they’re innocent. Actually, if they know they’re innocent they will enjoy seeing them get crucified more – because they are spiteful.”
