Watch: ‘We Don’t Look At Our Lives, We Look at Others’ Lives’ – Late Maltese Firefighter’s Beautiful Tribute To His Job

Another touching video of Joseph Zammit, the Maltese firefighter who tragically lost his life last weekend, has resurfaced, this time featuring him sharing a beautiful tribute to his job.

“We’re there to help other people,” Zammit poignantly says in the old One interview. “At times, we don’t even look at our lives, we look at others’. It’s a beautiful thing to help other people.”

“It’s too brutal for a worker to go out for work and not return,” Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri wrote on Facebook, sharing the interview.

48-year-old Zammit lost his life after extinguishing a grass fire in Pembroke.The incident unfolded when the police received a report that a fire broke out in St. Andrew’s at around 6pm and Civil Protection Department was called to assist.

After the fire was controlled and extinguished, Zammit developed health issues and lost consciousness and was administered first aid by other members of CPD who were with him on site and initiated CPR.

Joseph Zammit leaves behind his wife Kim and their two children. He was also an active member in his community and loved his village feast.
