Watch: Welcome To The Future – AI Reporter Praises Budget To PL Supporters
Is this the ONE News of the future?
Labour supporters who form part of certain PL Facebook groups have been treated to a video of an AI-generated reporter praising the Budget.
“The Nationalists are saying the pension increase wasn’t enough… well, it’s always higher than it was back in their time, when it never increased,” the ‘reporter’ says. “The PL government will now also increase the minimum wage, something the Nationalists never did.”
This is the latest in a series of AI-generated videos that have been posted to PL Facebook groups in recent months. Others, by different ‘reporters’, call out unnamed people for “insulting” the daughter of Prime Minister Robert Abela and mock Opposition Leader Bernard Grech.
The videos are clearly AI-generated, with the ‘reporter’ speaking in a very robotic voice, but they have generated a very positive reaction among the crowd.
With the world in the midst of an AI revolution and starting to come to grips with ethical questions of the implications of this technology on humanity, one must ask whether this is the mere start of a new frontier of political messaging campaigns.
