Watch: ‘We’ll Work With BirdLife When They Stop Trying To Eliminate Us’ – FKNK Head
FKNK head Lucas Micallef said he is ready to work with BirdLife on environmental issues, so long as they stop campaigning against hunters and trappers.
Micallef issued a public message after BirdLife President Darryl Grima personally invited him, along with other hunters and trappers, to an upcoming protest against the proposed planning bills.
Grima said the two organisations should present a united front against the bills, warning that they pose a threat to the natural environment.
However, Micallef responded with a challenge of his own.
“FKNK has always prioritised safeguarding the environment, thanks to our members whose love and work for nature means we can enjoy stronger ecosystems,” he said.
“We have already expressed our opinion on the proposed planning reform in the relevant fora as we have always done on related themes.”
“There are many common themes that can unite us for the sake of the environment but unfortunately, BirdLife often decides to focus its energy on trying to eliminate hunters and trappers from the countryside.”
“When BirdLife Malta decides to sideline this agenda, particularly its undermining of spring hunting and trapping, we can work with them constructively as we do with other organisations.”
