Watch: ‘We’re Dictating National Agenda From Opposition’ – Alex Borg
PN leader Alex Borg said that the government’s reaction to the party’s environment bill shows that the PN is “dictating the national agenda” from the opposition benches.
Just before shooting down a PN bill to enshrine “the right to live in a clean environment” as a legally enforceable constitutional right, the government launched a Green Paper on improving environmental legislation.
“In a state of panic on the day of the vote, the government published a Green Paper which was practically identical to our bill,” Borg told a PN rally in Nadur.
“This means that we’re dictating the national agenda from the opposition benches as I had promised we would.”

Borg also accused the government of carrying out a “whisper campaign”, with ministry officials encouraging NGOs to come out against the PN’s bill.
“This is the state of panic the PL government is in,” he said. “Ministry officials called up NGOs and people to criticise the PN.”
“Unfortunately, the PL voted against this bill instead of moving it to the committee stage to address any concerns about it while safeguarding the environment. But the PL government wanted to kill the discussion.”
