A citizen’s arrest resulted in police apprehending a 30-year-old woman who allegedly robbed stores in Marsaskala and Marsa.

The woman, a Birkirkara resident, had first entered a convenience store in Triq il-Qaliet, Marsaskala on Saturday afternoon.

Footage published by TVM shows her holding a knife and demanding money from the cashier, while wearing sunglasses and a cap to disguise her identity.

She managed to get away, but later that evening tried to perform a similar stunt at a lottery store in Triq Ħal Qormi, Marsa. However, she wasn’t so lucky this time.

“Investigations revealed that a woman had entered the store, armed with a knife and a heavy object, and demanded money from the cashier,” a police statement read.

“However, people who were in the store intervened and managed to hold the thief down shortly before the police arrived on the scene. The police immediately identified the woman as the same person who had committed a similar robbery in Marsaskala earlier that day.”
