Watch: Xlendi Road Turns Into Murky River Following Latest Storm
The main road of Xlendi quickly transformed into a murky river this morning following the islands’ latest storm.
This heavy rainfall and lightning that hit the Maltese islands triggered an all-too-familiar sight of flooding in certain localities – and it only seems to be getting more common by the day.
In a video shared by the popular Facebook page Malta Diżastru Totali earlier today, the long and winding road leading down to Xlendi alongside the valley can be seen turned into what essentially looks like a brown river.
Some cars which were parked were also swept away in the current as a result of the torrential rain.
Late last night, two large storms started forming just off the Northern coast of Gozo, and with Malta’s sister island usually seeing more rainfall, sights like this were to be expected, with forecasters even warning about the potential flooding which would follow earlier today.
But every single time a slightly heavier-than-average spell of rain hits the islands, sights like these never fail to impress.
