Watch: Żejtun’s Beland Band Club Unveil Record-Breaking Art Display That Runs On Solar Energy

Volunteers from Żejtun’s Beland Band Club registered a National Record after unveiling a showstopping mechanised, artistic device powered through solar energy.

The motorised, artistic wheel brandishing the green colours of the band club was built from pieces of recycled parts and materials picked apart from discarded artwork used in the past.

After its unveiling at the march of the St Catherine’s feast, the club have now set the standard for local festi while raising awareness about their impact on the environment.

“We strongly believe in the need to be conscious of the environmental impact related to everything the club does,” the Club wrote in a statement.

“While feasts are an important part of Malta’s cultural heritage, it is essential for organisers to make a larger effort to reduce their impact on the environment.”

Instead of using an internal combustion engine, the machine was powered using a battery operating on solar energy. Remarkably, the battery and solar panel were also repurposed.

The artwork itself represents the various musical tours the Beland Band has held overseas over the past 30 years, the last one being in 2019, where the band performed at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome, garnering an audience from the Pope himself at the Vatican City.
