We Have Some Bad News For Maltese People Excited About Tonight’s Eclipse
By now, you’ve probably heard there is going to be a Solar Eclipse happening today. It’s a rare event that occurs when the Moon slips between the Sun and Earth, blocking our view of the star for a few moments and giving the legendary corona effect.
But if you were planning to watch it in Malta, we’ve got some bad news for you. You’re not going to be able to see it.
The path of total eclipse will fall squarely in the western hemisphere. Malta forms part of the Eastern hemisphere will at most be able to see a partial solar eclipse. This means there will be a few minutes where it’ll look like someone has taken a bite out of the Sun.
However, there is also a chance we are just too far east to see anything at all. But if any of you aspiring stargazers are determined to give it a try, you’re going to want to wait until later. The estimated time for the eastern hemisphere to see a partial eclipse will be close to sunset, between 8 and 10 pm.
And if any you readers happen to be under the path of the eclipse today, make sure you take precautions! You can make or purchase safety glasses, and remember the Moon might be blocking it but it’s still the Sun. So you know, don’t look directly at it.
