Watch: ‘We Haven’t Forgotten Those Light Bulbs’ – GWU Secretary Lashes Out At PN MP
During a debate on the Budget on Popolin, the General Workers’ Union pensioners’ section secretary challenged a PN MP over an infamous scheme his party had introduced some 15 years ago.
When Anna Vella heard PN MP Jerome Caruana Cilia call out the government for “robbing” the nation through the Vitals deal, she wasn’t having any of it.
“I enjoyed hearing the Opposition using the phrase ‘theft from the people’ because I think you were experts in this,” she said.

She then went on to recount how her family had struggled through several PN government budgets and said she hasn’t forgotten the five energy-saving bulbs they had handed out to households.
“We remember those bulbs! Weren’t you laughing in our faces back then? I may be a pensioner now but I won’t forget those times and how my family struggled to raise us.”
Caruana Cilia tried to bring the debate back to Vitals, but Vella turned the tables back on him.
“If we’re going to talk about theft, then no one robbed from the people as much as you did!” she exclaimed.
