Justin Tabone’s sister penned a heartfelt tribute in the wake of her brother’s tragic and unexpected death.

Tabone died after he suffered from a suspected heart attack while playing football at the St Aloysius College football pitch earlier this week.

His death shocked many across the nation, especially given that Tabone was only 22-years-old.

“To my brother, who was the key to everything, the one that never complained, always there to help anyone, with a heart of gold,” his sister wrote.

“The uncle of my son that was always by Zane’s side. You were the man of the family always ready to step in and take care of things,” she said.

“We lost an angel with white wings as bright as you can always be. I am going to miss you so very much.”

“Always loving me no matter whether we had our ups and downs… you always stayed by my side.”

“You left me here behind you, I want you back. I miss you and I love you.”

“I didn’t get the chance to tell you how grateful I am for you to be in my life, my brother, always in my heart, never forgotten.”

The Liverpool Supporters Club Malta also issued their tribute, with Tabone having been an avid Liverpool fan.

“On behalf of the Liverpool Supporters Club Malta Committee, we offer our deepest condolences to Tabone family, following the tragic death of Justin Tabone, aged 22 and an avid Liverpool fan. May he rest in peace,” it said.

The situation was made much worse due to first aiders failing to locate a defibrillator close by, and the CPR administered was not enough.

The incident occurred on Monday night at around 9.30pm, Times of Malta has reported.

The ambulance took 15 minutes to arrive on-site, as a doctor and first aider frantically tried to resuscitate him.

It has since emerged that St Aloysius College did indeed have two AED machines, which were located right across the street at the school itself.

The school’s rector, Fr Jimmy Bartolo, also stressed there are signs leading people to the machines, emphasising that it was not a case of negligence.

Rest in Peace Justin Tabone
