We Take The Chance Yet Again? Bernard Grech’s Former Aide Criticises PN For Not Updating Its Playlist

Alessandro Farrugia, a former aide of Opposition Leader Bernard Grech, has criticised the PN for not updating its campaign song playlist.

After hearing Modern Talking’s ‘We Take The Chance’ at a PN event for the umpteenth time, Farrugia had enough.

“This song was released in 1998. It was used by the PN as a campaign song for the 1998 elections, after Labour couldn’t survive in government after 22 months from its election due to several faults of its own,” Farrugia recounted.

“This same song was repeatedly played by the PN in every mass event, including today, 27 years later.”

“Is there no other campaign song in 2025? Apparently not, because of the PN’s determination to remain firmly clawed to the past and retain the status quo.”

Although the party’s choice of songs is merely symbolic, Farrugia warned that the PN’s refusal to update its playlist is symptomatic of a deeper issue that plagues the party.

“This is one of the reasons why all political surveys keep on statistically concluding that the under-35s have no majority trust in the PN,” Farrugia said.

“The PN forgets to realise that a 35-year-old in 2025 was aged eight in 1998, let alone a 16-year-old today!”

“Being in the Opposition is OK. It serves to renew. It is a fundamental tenet of democracy. Once the electorate throws you out, you work to win their trust again.”

“But if the PN can’t renew a mere campaign song, how can it renew a country?”

Should the PN update its playlist?
