A Weather Warning Has Been Issued For The Maltese Islands Ahead Of Today’s Soaring Temperatures
Do you feel that heat? Hopefully, if you’re in a heavily air-conditioned room, it’s not too bad, but Malta’s getting ready for one hell of a hot day. In fact, this might very well be the island’s first proper heatwave this summer, and the Malta International Airport’s weather forecast page proves this.
A ‘yellow’ weather warning is currently displaying on the airport’s forecast page, warning people that the “maximum temperature for today is expected to reach 34°C.” That’s already more than hot enough, but it only gets worse once you add factors of wind and humidity.
Today’s temperature is set to feel like 37°C.
Yep; the constant sun pelting the island all throughout the rest of Thursday, coupled with the very mild Force 2 and 3 winds, will see the temperature sitting just under the 40s. On the first week of July. We shudder to think what’s going to happen come August.
The UV index is also set to be very high, with a forecasted 11 for all of this week. And you know what that means kids; take care of your skin, because the sun will be doing everything it can to melt it off.
While you’re not going to find any respite today unless you’re indoors and under an AC all day, tomorrow does look way more hopeful.
The weekend kicks off with a windy Friday seeing the northwesterly gusts going up to Force 5 and 6. As a result of this, the highest temperatures will be a relatively milder (but still hot) 33°C. The rest of the weekend will have more of the same, albeit with less wind.
